HomeAssure helped families to avoid the tragedy of foreclosure

Foreclosure is a horrible thing for any family, or individual, to have to suffer through. Foreclosures occur when a family or individual cannot pay the mortgage on their home or property and have the property taken from them. Being evicted from a home can be a traumatic event for a family or individual to experience, especially if it is somewhat unexpected. The current state of the economy has made it much more likely that such events will occur. A downturn in the economy always means bad things for lower and middle income Americans who no longer have the luxury of upward mobility. Instead, the economy becomes a means of survival, rather than a means of “moving on up” (as the Jeffersons would say). It is the removal of the American dream and in its place—the American nightmare, working hard to make ends meet so that you and your family can keep your house.

There are a variety of causes for increases in foreclosure, above and beyond the sinking economy. Those include rising interest rates, unemployment, personal tragedy, and health problems. Foreclosure is a package-deal problem, too, since it carries with it instances of family instability, homelessness, loss of equity and income, and horrible credit ratings. And of course, nothing could be more harrowing than having your home taken from you and sold to someone else, or destroyed to make way for another home or commercial building.

I once heard of a company, called HomeAssure I think, that helped families to avoid the tragedy of foreclosure. However, I know nothing of what happened to them or whether they still exist.
